Pot,Weed,Marijuana.Dose smoking it make you Stupid?...Lazy?or Both?Why is the Government so Pissed about it?

Everyone is writing about Marijuana these days.The debate about legalization rages on and on..I've noticed that there seem to be two major points of view being advanced in the pro camp.

1 Medical marijuana should be legalized because,:Intellectual reason ridden argument follows:

2 Marijuana should be completely legalized because,:contradictions in statistics about health risks and pointing at other substances considered more destructive(mainly alcohol and tobacco) being legal follows:

The arguments set forth have been rehashed So many times I won't bore you with them again.I would like to make a point that is rarely covered and address the two primary stereotypes of Marijuana users that are fed to the public.

Natural Rights,what are they?A Natural right is one that is historically Implicit never having been subject to legislation and therefore just as valid as legislated rights.

Example:Garlic[I.m Italian American so please indulge my selection ha!]has been available since the beginning of our great country.Garlic has never been subject to legislation, making it illegal would remove your natural right to it.The "good bad" argument can be invoked with anything including garlic which,in sufficient quantities,will kill you.

Marijuana has been with us from the beginning as well.However,as I'm sure you know,in the late 1930s it was made Illegal.This was justified through scare tactics in films like"Reefer Madness".The trusting public believed in there government and took the hype as truth.

Real studies and implemented legalization models have come to light recently that completely contradict what the government has been telling us.The net effect has been the removal of our natural right to marijuana,another right bites the dust.A door has been opened that makes many of us very aware of one major fact.Our government has [with out our consent] taken on the role of legislating our personal freedoms.More and more inroads are being made which remove more and more of our rights [legislated as well as natural] under one guise [usually National Security] or another .Uh oh...I feel a rant on America's slide toward socialism coming on.I'll make it short....

Socialism presupposes the individual serving the State.Our constitution [which is Written on hemp paper!] provides for exactly the opposite scenario.Ethical Civic Duty is a condition of democracy and we should not shirk it.Civic duty is a bastion of keeping our personal freedoms.Hundreds of thousands have given there Lives to defend these freedoms.Will our legacy be"they did nothing to stop our enslavement".Please Think about that.

Have you ever wondered why the DEA devotes 60% of its budget to enforcing Marijuana laws while Hard Drugs are killing so many of us every year?Why do you suppose that Is?I'd like to make a point here by telling you a true story.

Long ago,I was living in a run down part of town where every building was full of"Characters"to use a polite term.My neighbor was a hard ass ex con ex biker who loved his beer.Anyone who's read my hubs knows that I love my beer too.In any case,I invited him over for the first time and we sat down to watch a football game.We cracked open a beer and started talking.Those of you who smoke now how much better a Heineken tastes when your buzzed up.I broke out my pot and rolled a joint.When I passed it to him I was startled at what he said.

"I don't smoke Pot"

Curious I asked him why?This guy did hard drugs all the time but didn't smoke pot,strange don't you think?His reply actually left me speechless.

"It makes me THINK To much"

Individual thinking[critical analytical thinking] is contrary to socialism,which requires a herd mentality,they are mutually exclusive...and once people start thinking,it's just a matter of time till their thinking becomes critical analytical thinking.It is then focused on the inequalities of life ergo...the Government.Rant over...

And now ladies and gentlemen,I'd like to touch on the two main stereotypes concerning Marijuana.We've all seen the"Doesn't Give a Shit"Stoner in movies that confirms how pot makes you stupid.The Fact is

If your Stupid and you smoke pot you are then High and Stupid.

If your Intelligent and you smoke pot you are then High and Intelligent.

The first stereotype portrays pot smokers as lazy and a drain on society.The second is rarely addressed.The list of successful pot smoking people who've made contributions to society is very long and includes some of our forefathers.Common everyday examples abound as well.How many of you artists out there are willing to comment on this?How many of you have done great projects inspired while high?How many of you home makers put together your best meals after you toked up?How many of you guys have the best yard on the block because you really got into it after a few bong hits?I could go on but I'm sure you get the point.

I do not advocate making pot freely available.I do not advocate smoking pot at work,In fact,I've Fired people for repeatedly coming to work high.My point is that stereotyping is not accurate in any application whether it be Marijuana,people or anything else.If you want to know about pot,push past the stereotypes and do the research.Look objectively at both sides then make up your own mind.Objectivity is the key word while researching anything,so try hard to maintain it..

I grew up in a very tough part of the inner city.By the time I was eighteen all of my emotions had disappeared.I was on the verge of being able to commit murder without regret.I was also vehemently anti drugs.One night my best fiend called me and said he had some pot and we should try it.I got really pissed and rattled his cage but he was one of a very few people I still listened to and he talked me into it.He tried to roll a joint for the first time in his life and failed miserably.It looked like two cigarettes had sex and ours got pregnant,we smoked it anyway.When he lit it and I smelled pot smoke up close for the first time I thought he caught his shirt on fire.It smelled like a burning rag.All you smokers out there remember your first hit I'm sure.Mine made me cough so hard my eyes watered and it tasted like Shit(Just like Scotch it's definitely an Acquired taste) and Nothing happened!I was ready to quit but my friend talked me into taking hit after hit until finally it HIT!My Feelings returned,I was Human again,I was Animated,I was Happy,and I was Really Hungry!I knew then that pot was not the Devil weed I'd been programed to believe it was.I'm glad I made that decision.It was right for me and I still use it when I do my meditations,which brings us almost to the end of this foray into the mind of a responsible user of marijuana.

Keep in mind that there are three attitudes.

1 those who abuse.

2 those who use responsibly.

3 those who abstain.

We all fit one of the three.We have the right to choose which works for us.So long as our choice dose not interfere with an-other's freedom it is our personal choice.Morality can not be legislated.

Addiction to anything from Heroin to Milk to Work or even Love is unhealthy.It is the mind set of the individual involved that is defect.The root of the problem in the mind is what causes the addictive personality.The term"Self medicating"needs to be substituted for addiction IMO.

If your thinking of trying Marijuana,ask yourself this question

Is it worth the trade off in my life?

I'm active in my community,employ a fare number of people,and pay Lots of taxes every year.I'm law abiding and try to be a good citizen.I'm not an exception to pot smokers in general!
